Senior Network Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced network solutions, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to meet business objectives. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong background in automation, who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive innovation in network architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Design & Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance network solutions using Arista and Ciena technologies to support enterprise and service provider environments.
• Technology Integration: Integrate Arista and Ciena platforms with existing network infrastructure, ensuring seamless interoperability and optimal performance.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize network performance, ensuring low latency, high availability, and reliability across all systems.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including cloud, security, and application teams, to ensure network solutions align with organizational goals.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues across Arista and Ciena platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Automation & Orchestration: Develop and deploy network automation solutions using tools such as Python, Ansible, and Terraform to streamline operations, reduce manual tasks, and improve efficiency.
• Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors (e.g., Arista, Ciena) to evaluate new technologies, manage procurement, and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
• Innovation: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to enhance network performance and automation capabilities.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in Arista Networks technologies, including spine-leaf architectures, VXLAN, and EVPN.
• Superior Wireshark skills, ability to dissect streams and quickly identify issues
• Proficiency in Ciena Networks technologies, including optical transport systems, SDN, and packet networking.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols (e.g., BGP, MPLS, VXLAN).
• Strong knowledge of Linux
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, and Git
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) and hybrid network architectures.
• Knowledge of SDWAN technologies
• Knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

• Ability to train junior engineers and collaborate with senior members of technical teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
