About the Company

This company is an independent mortgage brokerage based in Western Australia that provides tailored property finance and lending guidance. Serving a diverse clientele, including first-time homebuyers, high-net-worth individuals, and seasoned real estate investors, the firm leverages relationships with over 30 lenders to source and secure competitive loan options. Its core financial services encompass residential home loans, mortgage refinancing to lower borrower risk, and structured investment financing designed to maximize portfolio returns.

Role Overview

As a Senior Mortgage Broker Support / Credit Analyst, you will bridge the gap between technical credit analysis and end-to-end file management, taking complete ownership of applications from initial assessment through to submission and settlement support. Designed for a commercial thinker who thrives with minimal supervision, this position allows our onshore brokers to focus entirely on growth while you manage the end-to-end technical execution of each loan.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Assessment: Review and verify tax returns, financial statements, Business Activity Statements (BAS), payslips, and comprehensive supporting documentation.
  • Use the information provided by the client(s) to ensure each client file in the CRM is fully complete at the outset. This will require a strong understanding of and experience with Connective CRM (Mercury). This includes;
      1. reviewing documents provided to ensure information fields (such as ID details, assets, liabilities, employment etc.) are all complete,
      2. renaming documents to a naming protocol (which we have),
      3. removing tax file numbers and other compliance related checks,
      4. reviewing credit reports to ensure the client has no adverse credit and flagging where they have,
      5. ensuring all liabilities and expenses are declared accurately in the expenses section (by reviewing documents provided by the client)
      6. comparing documents held against checklists from lenders (this will likely happen later in the process)
      7. entering key dates such as finance due, settlement date, and
      8. once income is determined, checking expenses declared against HEM.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct meticulous pre-submission quality assurance checks, collaborating with the processing team to ensure all files are complete, accurate, and completely submission-ready.
  • Serviceability & Risk Evaluation: Analyze borrowing capacity (servicing), outstanding liabilities, living expenses (ensuring HEM check), and credit histories to identify policy issues, lender risks, and potential submission challenges.
  • Strategic Lender Recommendations: Research lender policies and liaise with Business Development Managers (BDMs) to recommend the most suitable lenders based on policy compliance, serviceability, and client goals.
  • Loan Structuring & Summaries: Prepare clear, high-quality credit recommendations and scenario summaries for brokers while assisting with structural design and overall submission strategy.
  • Scenario Analysis: Evaluate complex residential lending scenarios across a diverse range of client portfolios, including PAYG, self-employed, company, trust, and SMSF applications.

Requirements

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of dedicated Australian mortgage broking experience in a role that focused on the above key responsibilities.
  • Industry Systems: Familiarity with the Connective aggregator platform / Mercury CRM.
  • Communication & Organization: Exceptional written English communication skills alongside unmatched attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Brokerage Background: Prior experience working within a fast-paced, high-performing Australian mortgage brokerage.

Preferred Skills & Technologies (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Analysis Tools: Proficiency with Quickli (or equivalent policy/servicing tools), lender servicing calculators, and various major Australian lender portals.
  • Complex Assessment Skills: Proven experience assessing complex borrower types and structures, including Self-employed applicants, Company & Trust structures, SMSF lending, Refinancing, Investment lending, and Business-purpose lending.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to independently identify appropriate lender fit and mitigate policy risks.
  • Lending Policy Expertise: Deep, current understanding of Australian lending policies and guidelines.
