Apply to this jobThe Senior Hand Soldering Technician is responsible for the precise manual assembly, soldering, rework, and troubleshooting of electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs). This position ensures high-quality workmanship aligned with IPC-A-610 Class 3 and J-STD-001 standards. Additionally, this role serves as a technical reference within the team, supporting training, certification, and continuous improvement initiatives in soldering processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced manual soldering on through-hole (THT) and surface-mount (SMD) components with high precision.
- Execute complex rework and repair activities using tools such as flux, solder wire, hot air stations, solder wick, and solder suckers.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and assembly instructions with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot and resolve soldering or assembly defects following IPC Class 3 criteria.
- Handle moisture-sensitive and ESD-sensitive components.
- Inspect solder joints using magnification tools or microscopes.
- Document completed work and anomalies.
- Ensure adherence to manufacturing procedures and safety standards.
- Maintain clean, organized workstations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train and mentor technicians and operators in IPC standards.
- Support certification and recertification processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or related technical field (required).
- 5+ years of experience in hand soldering, PCB rework, and electronic assembly.
- Advanced proficiency in manual soldering (THT & SMD).
- Experience with fine-pitch components and high-density assemblies.
- Knowledge of MSD and ESD handling.
- Experience with IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards.
- Knowledge of BGA rework processes.
- Understanding of SMD and through-hole assembly.
- IPC 7711/7721 certification required; CIT preferred.
- Knowledge of J-STD-001.
