A Glimpse into Your New Role

As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you’ll take the lead in rebuilding a legacy recruitment platform for a forward-thinking Australian recruitment company. This is a greenfield project, offering the opportunity to own the architecture and full-stack development process—from design to deployment. You’ll collaborate closely with the Head of Technology and work with modern technologies such as React, FastAPI, Docker, and PostgreSQL. As the project matures, you'll also mentor a junior developer and contribute to building out the engineering team.

Your Day Could See You:

• Architecting and building a scalable, full-stack web application from scratch

• Designing and implementing responsive frontend components using React

• Developing and managing backend APIs with FastAPI (Python) and integrating with PostgreSQL

• Setting up Docker containers and contributing to DevOps pipelines and GitHub structure

• Working closely with the Head of Technology and external consultants to integrate legacy systems and databases

• Leading the code quality, documentation, and testing strategy

• Mentoring and supporting a junior developer as the team grows

• Participating in roadmap planning, decision-making, and technical design discussions

Tech Stack You'll Work With:

• Frontend: React (Hooks, functional components)

• Backend: Python (FastAPI)

• Database: PostgreSQL

• Infrastructure: Docker

• Version Control: GitHub

What You’ll Bring:

• Minimum 5 years of full-stack development experience, including end-to-end ownership of at least one major project

• Strong expertise in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript workflows

• Proven backend experience with Python, preferably FastAPI (Django or Flask also considered)

• Proficiency in building and consuming REST APIs

• Deep understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL

• Familiarity with containerization using Docker

• Proactive, critical thinker with strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience working independently while aligning with distributed stakeholders

• Willingness to work within Australian (Sydney) business hours

Bonus Points For:

• Experience modernizing or replacing legacy systems

• Familiarity with authentication and role-based access control

• Exposure to UI/UX collaboration or design thinking

• CI/CD setup experience or cloud deployment familiarity

• Mobile development experience using React
