Job Description

The Senior Finance Lead – Cost Allocation & Strategic Programs provides strategic leadership for enterprise cost allocation, financial transparency, expense governance, and cross-functional Finance initiatives. The role partners with senior leaders across Finance, Accounting, Financial Operations, Tax, Technology, and business lines to develop, implement, and evolve methodologies, governance frameworks, and operating practices that support informed decision-making and effective financial management.

This position leads highly complex initiatives with significant business, financial, and organizational impact. The role serves as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership, influencing enterprise decisions, driving alignment across stakeholders, and ensuring cost allocation methodologies, governance processes, and financial management practices remain scalable, transparent, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise cost allocation methodologies, governance frameworks, and supporting business processes.

  • Partner with Finance and business leaders to improve transparency, accountability, and consistency in expense attribution and financial decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain governance structures, standards, controls, and operating practices supporting cost allocation and financial management activities.

  • Provide strategic consultation and recommendations regarding allocation methodologies, funding models, chargeback approaches, and related financial impacts.

  • Lead highly visible cross-functional initiatives involving Finance, Accounting, Financial Operations, Tax, Technology, Risk, and business-line stakeholders.

  • Assess and communicate financial, operational, and strategic implications associated with proposed methodology changes and transformation initiatives.

  • Drive executive-level discussions regarding priorities, risks, trade-offs, implementation strategies, and expected outcomes.

  • Develop materials and recommendations for senior leadership, governance committees, and executive decision forums.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen governance, improve transparency, and enhance organizational effectiveness.

  • Influence enterprise decisions and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups where authority is largely achieved through expertise, credibility, and partnership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Eight or more years of related experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Significant experience in Finance, Corporate Finance, FP&A, Accounting, Financial Operations, Cost Allocation, Profitability Analysis, or related disciplines.

  • Strong understanding of financial governance, expense management, allocation methodologies, cost recovery models, and financial management practices.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale initiatives with broad organizational impact and significant stakeholder complexity.

  • Ability to influence senior executives and business leaders on complex financial, operational, and strategic matters.

  • Experience developing governance frameworks, decision-making processes, and enterprise operating models.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, and relationship management skills.

  • Proven ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable business recommendations.

  • Financial services experience preferred.

Location -

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $126,820.00 - $149,200.00
