About you and this role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager, NGL Trading & Feedstocks located in Houston, TX! In this role, you will be part of Dow’s USGC NGL Feedstocks team and manage commercial activity across Dow’s NGL portfolio, which includes ethane, propane, butane, naphtha, and related feedstock streams.
Dow consumes significant volumes of natural gas liquids (NGLs) along the U.S. Gulf Coast to produce ethylene, propylene, and other olefins used in finished plastics and chemicals. Feedstock costs are exposed to market volatility driven by infrastructure constraints, supply and demand fundamentals, and broader energy price movements, including oil, natural gas, and gasoline. The U.S. NGL Feedstocks team plays a critical role in maintaining a reliable low-cost feedstock supply and protecting Dow’s earnings during periods of energy market volatility.
You will be responsible for trading, contracting, and optimizing NGL feedstocks to ensure reliable supply, manage commercial risk, and maximize value across Dow's U.S. Gulf Coast feedstock portfolio. You will manage spot and near-term commercial activity, negotiate short-term supply agreements, develop market and pricing models, coordinate product movements through Dow’s logistics and asset network, and manage key internal and external interfaces.
You will also support strategic decisions related to long-term feedstock acquisition, capital projects, asset optimization, and infrastructure strategy across Dow’s U.S. manufacturing footprint.
Responsibilities
- Trading, contracting, and optimizing NGLs to meet Dow’s supply, inventory, and value capture objectives.
- Develop trading strategies to optimize Dow’s NGL position across product, time, location, logistics, storage, and asset optionality.
- Optimize the utilization of pipelines, storage, transportation, and other infrastructure assets to improve supply reliability, enhance operational flexibility, and maximize commercial value.
- Monitor and manage commercial exposure associated with commodity prices, basis differentials, logistics constraints, inventory positions, and contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain NGL supply, demand, inventory, logistics, and pricing models.
- Manage external relationships with suppliers, customers, traders, brokers, midstream companies, and infrastructure providers.
- Communicate market strategies, transaction activity, and portfolio positions to team members, leadership, and supporting functions.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, finance, legal, tax, and operations to support reliable feedstock supply.
- Support strategic decisions involving long-term feedstock acquisition, infrastructure needs, capital projects, commercial optimization, and asset utilization.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant commercial, trading, supply, logistics, or commodity market experience.
- Willing and able to travel as required for this role.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
- An MBA or higher education.
- Experience in NGLs, petrochemical feedstocks, natural gas, commodity trading, commercial optimization, logistics, supply management, or procurement.
- Demonstrated experience developing commercial strategies that integrate physical assets, contractual optionality, and market fundamentals.
- Experience with pipeline, storage, terminal, fractionation, and transportation economics preferred.
Skills
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of physical trading, market fundamentals, storage, transportation, and supply agreements.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to evaluate pricing, spreads, logistics constraints, inventory positions, and commercial risks.
- Cross-Functional Work: Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
