Job Description Summary:

At The Coca-Cola Company, we believe data is the foundation for creating personalized experiences and powering sustainable growth in today’s digital-first world. As consumers engage with our brands in more connected ways than ever before, we are investing in advanced data and analytics platforms to unlock deeper insights, accelerate decision-making, and enable seamless innovation at scale.

This senior leadership role combines deep technical proficiency (hands-on) in modern data engineering with a strategic direction to enable enterprise-scale integration across CocaCola’s Data and Analytics platforms. You will drive both the engineering rigor and the career development of your team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide Strategic Technical Leadership: Champion modern data engineering principles and a systems-thinking approach across multiple teams, ensuring architectural integrity and alignment with CocaCola’s Data Integration strategy.

  • Develop and Inspire High-Performing Teams: Lead and mentor a diverse team of data integration professionals, building capabilities in advanced architectures, fostering a culture of learning, and supporting career progression.

  • Drive Engineering Excellence: Promote engineering practices - advancing modular design, functional programming standards, and continuous testing across all integration solutions.

  • Lead Design and Delivery of Scalable Data Architectures: Shape and implement distributed pipelines and Medallion architectures using technologies such as Apache Spark and Scala within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem to enable flexible, efficient data integration.

  • Enhance Performance and Optimization: Apply advanced techniques for Spark workload tuning - addressing memory, partitioning, and query planning to deploy efficient batch and streaming processes.

  • Drive Data FinOps and Cloud Cost Governance: Implement robust cost monitoring, workload forecasting, and capacity planning for Microsoft Fabric and associated cloud infrastructure to maximize ROI, ensure efficient compute utilization, and balance fiscal accountability with performance SLAs.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (10+ years) directly managing, mentoring, and developing software or data engineering teams.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, partnering effectively across business, technology, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions aligned to enterprise objectives.

  • Proven experience managing, mentoring, and scaling software or data engineering teams, with a strong track record of leading complex projects and developing senior engineering staff.

  • Software Engineering (8+ years): Extensive polyglot development experience on the JVM, with a strict requirement for deep proficiency in Scala. Must demonstrate a strong grasp of functional programming, concurrency models, and modularization.

  • Spark Expertise (6+ years): Deep, hands-on experience building, debugging and optimizing distributed computing applications using Apache Spark.

  • DevOps & CI/CD: Proven ability to build automated release cycles. Hands-on expertise with Git, GitHub Actions, and build tools (Maven/SBT, UV are required).

  • Delivery: Experience in Agile development (Scrum, lean techniques) and collaborating with global engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in cloud platforms or data engineering (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Databricks Certified Professional).

  • Background in platform cost governance and workload performance modeling at enterprise scale.
