Senior Construction Project Engineer

Portland, ME
Langford & Low Construction is seeking a Senior Construction Project Engineer, to be based in their Portland, ME office.
Requirements of the Senior Construction Project Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or a related field
- 4-6 years of experience in construction or construction management
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to commute to Portland, ME and travel to job sites Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities of the Senior Construction Project Engineer:
- Assist Project Managers in developing project schedules, work plans, and execution strategies
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Lead constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives
- Track project progress and support schedule updates and look-ahead planning
- Assist in cost control, forecasting, and change order management
- Review subcontractor scopes, pay applications, and quantity take-offs
- Support procurement activities, including material tracking and vendor coordination
- Ensure construction activities comply with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation
- Monitor field work for compliance with approved plans and industry best practices
- Participate in inspections, testing, and commissioning activities
- Support site teams with daily construction activities and issue resolution
- Coordinate with superintendents to ensure safe and efficient work sequencing
- Enforce company safety policies and regulatory compliance
- Participate in site meetings, progress meetings, and coordination meetings
- Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, and technical correspondence
- Serve as a point of contact for technical queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation systems
