Support existing automated equipment, and participate in the design and implementation of new assembly automation

Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Manufacturing organization for automated assembly equipment support
  • Own the OEE metric for the assigned areas, driving improvement and resolving issues
  • Collaborate from a technical perspective with the Global Strategic Development teams to develop and implement new assembly solutions that support global initiatives
  • Benchmark similar industries and technologies. Identify Best Practices, areas for improvement, and develop corresponding response plans
  • Identify and improve existing safety and ergonomic conditions for automated assembly equipment
  • Develop and train Standard Operating Procedures and Progressive Maintenance Partnership documentation for site automation and equipment
  • Propose and implement Visual Factory screens that support Manufacturing and overall plant goals
  • Lead or participate in Continuous Improvement Events in the manufacturing facilities to implement equipment and process changes
  • Participate in Product Design reviews, PFMEA, and Design for Assembly processes
  • Develop and implement procedures and documentation that support the release of machinery and equipment, and train affected site personnel
  • Lead process troubleshooting efforts, including cross-functional team engagement
  • Support Maintenance organization with training, equipment maintenance plans, and troubleshooting assistance

  1. BS degree in Engineering
  2. Controls experience:
  • Functional knowledge of PLC-based machine controls; robotics, sensor, and vision applications; and pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical devices
  • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic and electrical schematics
  • Basic use of Allen-Bradley controls software suite
  1. 5+ years of experience working in high volume production assembly (manual and automated)
  2. Experience in development, validation, and process optimization of significant capital projects
  3. Knowledge and understanding of part prints and equipment layouts
  4. Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving capability
  5. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with hands on experience
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills interfacing with all levels of Manufacturing, Engineering, customers, suppliers, and operations
  7. Hands on experience with MS Office and MS Project
  8. Must possess interactive skills to support the manufacturing team and function as a business partner
  9. Demonstrated success handling multiple priorities and working in a fast paced environment
  10. Exposure to techniques in change management preferred
  11. Must be collaborative and able to work in a team environment
