We are Walker & Dunlop.  We are one of the largest providers of capital to the commercial real estate industry, enabling real estate owners and operators to bring their visions of communities — where people live, work, shop, and play — to life. We are committed to creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic change in our communities.

Department Overview

Walker & Dunlop Investment Partners (WDIP) is a real estate private equity firm that manages capital on behalf of endowments, foundations, pension plans, private funds, insurance companies, family offices, and high net worth individuals. WDIP invests debt and equity capital in value-added, opportunistic, distressed, and special situation transactions through a series of private funds, joint ventures, and separately managed accounts.

The Impact You Will Have

In this role, you will support the Asset Management team within Walker & Dunlop Investment Partners by providing analytical and operational insights that drive investment performance. Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, you will play a key role in evaluating portfolio performance, informing strategic decisions, and helping maximize asset-level and fund-level outcomes. Through financial analysis, market research, and ongoing portfolio monitoring, your work will contribute to delivering strong returns and maintaining alignment with investment objectives on behalf of investors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the underwriting and due diligence review of transactions, including financial modeling, market research, sales and rental comparable analysis, sponsor and borrower background checks, property site visits, investment committee materials, and transaction closings.
  • Screen inquiries, which requires interaction and follow-up with sponsors/borrowers.
  • Perform detailed financial analyses related to quarterly valuations, hold vs. sell decisions, recapitalizations, restructurings, and other key investment decisions.
  • Analyze investment performance relative to underwriting and business plans, identifying key drivers of success or underperformance.
  • Prepare investment memoranda and present recommendations to support decision-making and optimize asset performance.
  • Partner with sponsors and operating partners to evaluate asset performance and execution of business plans.
  • Conduct market research, including sales and lease comparable analysis, to inform investment strategy.
  • Prepare monthly asset-level and fund-level reporting, including key performance indicators.
  • Perform monthly financial statement reviews and variance analyses (budget vs. actual).
  • Review and process cash flow distributions and capital expenditure activity.
  • Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment across asset management, reporting, and investment strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate, asset management, investment analysis, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of real estate investment concepts, including present value, internal rate of return (IRR), equity multiples, and investor waterfalls.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build and analyze complex models.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into clear, concise insights and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while contributing independently in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders

This position has an estimated base salary of $75,000 - $85,000 plus discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant’s relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data
