Job description

On behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing company with more than 50 years of successful presence in the industry, based in Euboea, Greece, we are seeking an Accountant to join and support the Accounting team.

The successful candidate will undertake a broad range of accounting, tax compliance, and month-end closing activities, while playing an active role in production costing, inventory control, budgeting, financial analysis, and management reporting.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Accounting and Tax Compliance

  • Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Perform month-end closing activities and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the General Ledger.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, withholding tax declarations, tax statements, and other statutory and regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Greek accounting and tax legislation and support the company’s obligations relating to myDATA.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations between the commercial/ERP system and the General Ledger.
  • Reconcile the Fixed Assets Register with the General Ledger and monitor fixed asset movements and depreciation.
  • Perform bank, supplier, customer, and other balance-sheet account reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash balances and support treasury and cash-management activities.
  • Support internal and external audits and cooperate with auditors, tax advisors, and other external partners when required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial processes.

Cost Accounting and Inventory Control

  • Perform monthly production costing and ensure the reconciliation of Inventory, Cost Accounting, and General Ledger records.
  • Continuously monitor production consumption and analyze variances between actual and standard usage.
  • Identify and report production losses, waste, and other cost deviations.
  • Participate in monthly physical inventory counts and support the reconciliation of physical inventory with accounting records.
  • Work closely with Production, Warehouse, and other relevant departments to ensure the accuracy of costing and inventory information.
  • Prepare costing analyses and provide relevant financial information to support management decision-making.

Budgeting, Financial Analysis and Management Reporting

  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the annual Budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Support the preparation and regular updating of Cash Flow forecasts.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly Management Reports, including financial and operational performance analysis.
  • Produce reports relating to production costs, inventory levels, consumption, waste, margins, and cost variances.
  • Analyze actual results against Budget, forecasts, and prior periods, identifying key deviations and providing clear explanations to Management.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other departments to collect, validate, and consolidate the financial and operational data required for reporting purposes.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of financial KPIs, management reports, dashboards, and reporting tools through ERP and Business Intelligence systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 5–6 years of relevant professional experience in an accounting position.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment will be highly valued.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in month-end closing, General Ledger reconciliations, tax compliance, and statutory filings.
  • Previous experience in production costing and inventory accounting will be strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Greek accounting and tax legislation.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confidence in working with complex financial and operational data.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools will be considered an advantage.
  • Class A Accountant–Tax Consultant professional licence and corresponding signatory authority will be considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within demanding deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to communicate effectively with Finance, Production, Warehouse, and other operational departments.
