Job description

Job Summary

The Seasonal Coach is responsible for leading and developing student-athletes in a manner that promotes athletic excellence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth while supporting the mission and values of the Catholic school. The coach provides instruction, supervision, and mentorship throughout the designated sports season.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct practices and training sessions.
  • Coach the team during games, meets, and tournaments.
  • Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and strategies.
  • Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during all team activities.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, competitions, and team travel.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators, and athletic department staff.
  • Monitor student-athlete conduct and encourage academic success.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with inventory and uniform distribution.
  • Comply with school policies, league regulations, and state athletic association rules.
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior consistent with the school's Catholic mission.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous coaching and/or competitive playing experience in the assigned sport preferred.
  • Knowledge of sport-specific rules, techniques, and safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and other required coaching certifications, or willingness to obtain them.
  • Successful completion of background screening and any diocesan safe environment training requirements.
