A Brief Overview
With general supervision, performs evaluation, teaching, implementation, and supervision of curriculum and programming for children enrolled in the preschool program. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do
  • Implements developmentally appropriate curriculum for enrolled children in preschool program.
  • Provides instruction to students through a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students.
  • Documents instruction/parent training sessions and follows documentation policies and expectations.
  • Leads and trains Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Volunteers, and Students.
  • Promotes and assures the safety, health, and well-being of children.
  • Follows licensure, funding, and accreditation standards.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
  • Required - Bachelor's Degree Early Childhood Education
  • Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Special Education
  • Preferred - Master's Degree Early Childhood Education
  • Preferred - Master's Degree Special Education

Work Experience Requirements
  • Required - Teaching 1-3 years

Licenses and Certifications Requirements
  • Required - Professional Teacher License with special endorsement in Pre-K to 3rd - Tennessee Department of Education
  • Required - Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED - American Heart Association

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Exhibit thorough knowledge of how to assist a child/family to achieve optimal success by using best practice strategies for the provision of early childhood education.
  • Specific knowledge of early childhood developmental tasks and strategies to assist children in meeting developmental milestones.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with families and provide support encouragement.
  • Ability to administer various developmental standardized testing accurately and report varying levels of complex data both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand complex written materials.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines, and maintain control of work flow.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license and insurable by the Medical Center’s insurance carrier.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • Leads Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Volunteers, and Students.

Physical Demands
  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
