Job Summary
St. Clement of Rome Catholic School is seeking a compassionate and student-centered School Counselor to support the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students. The School Counselor collaborates with students, parents, faculty, and administration to foster a safe, supportive, and faith-filled learning environment that promotes student success and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the mission of the school.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside agencies to identify and address student needs.
- Assist students with conflict resolution, coping skills, decision-making, and personal growth.
- Support students during periods of crisis and provide appropriate referrals to community resources when needed.
- Monitor student progress and maintain confidential counseling records in accordance with school policies and professional standards.
- Consult with faculty and staff regarding strategies to support student success and well-being.
- Participate in student support meetings and assist with intervention planning.
- Promote a positive school climate that reflects Catholic values and respect for all individuals.
- Support and uphold the mission, philosophy, and Catholic identity of St. Clement of Rome Catholic School.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field required.
- Valid School Counselor certification or eligibility for certification preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, counseling techniques, and student support services.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Commitment to supporting students in a faith-based educational environment.
- Successful completion of all required background checks and diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
