Job description

Liquid Personnel is recruiting an experienced and highly motivated Safeguarding Practitioner to join its client's Adult Safeguarding Team. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker looking to work within a specialist multi-agency safeguarding environment, supporting the delivery of a robust and effective safeguarding service for adults across the city.
The successful candidate will provide expert advice, guidance, and support on complex safeguarding concerns, working closely with a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies including police, health professionals, care providers, acute hospitals, homelessness services, substance misuse services, the CQC, and local charities. This role requires a confident practitioner with strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent risk management skills, and the ability to work autonomously whilst managing a varied and often complex caseload.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Triaging adult safeguarding concerns, providing timely advice, decision-making, and appropriate actions in line with legal and procedural requirements.
  • Managing and progressing complex safeguarding enquiries, including Section 42 enquiries, non-statutory enquiries, investigations, and Multi-Agency Risk Management processes.
  • Applying safeguarding legislation, policy, and best practice, including the Care Act 2014 and the Making Safeguarding Personal framework.
  • Working independently to manage a professional caseload whilst ensuring high standards of practice and compliance.
  • Assessing and managing risk, ensuring vulnerable adults are protected whilst promoting their rights, wishes, and desired outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with a wide range of partner agencies to ensure coordinated and effective safeguarding interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate, comprehensive, and legally compliant records, reports, and case documentation.
  • Representing the Adult Safeguarding Team at internal and external meetings, forums, safeguarding reviews, and professional discussions.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of safeguarding training, reflective practice sessions, and learning opportunities for professionals and students.
  • Providing professional supervision, mentoring, and practice guidance to colleagues where required.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW.
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care, including safeguarding adults practice and complex case management.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Making Safeguarding Personal, and Adult Safeguarding procedures.
  • Risk Management: Proven ability to assess, manage, and document complex risks whilst making defensible professional decisions.
  • Investigation Experience: Experience undertaking safeguarding enquiries relating to allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed reports and engage effectively with a diverse range of professionals and service users.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience supervising, mentoring, supporting, or developing colleagues is highly desirable.
  • Personal Attributes: Professionally curious, emotionally resilient, organised, and able to work effectively under pressure whilst managing competing priorities.
