Job description

Royal Ocean Marine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Roving Marine Safety Auditor for our shipping client to conduct safety audits onboard vessels. This role requires extensive travel to various vessel locations to evaluate and ensure compliance with marine safety standards, regulations, and company policies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining high safety standards across the fleet and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough marine safety audits onboard vessels, assessing compliance with international maritime safety regulations and company policies.
  • Identify safety risks, non-compliances, and potential hazards during audits and inspections.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with recommendations for corrective actions and follow-up as necessary.
  • Collaborate with vessel crews and management to promote best practices in marine safety and implement audit recommendations.
  • Stay current with evolving maritime safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Support training initiatives and safety awareness programs as part of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure all audit documentation and records are accurately maintained and submitted on time.

Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate of competency Class 2 or above in Nautical Studies
  • Knowledge of maritime safety regulations such as SOLAS, IMO, and ISM Code.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough safety audits and write clear, concise reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with vessel crews and management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and stay onboard vessels for audit assignments.
  • Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 19011 Lead Auditor, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to travel up to 60 to 70 percents
  • Will be base in home countries when not travelling
