Job description
  • Supervise and coordinate daily nursing operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and facility policies while overseeing the performance of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse trainees.

  • Provide direct patient care when necessary, including assessments, IV starts, specimen collection, administering medications, and monitoring serious conditions.

  • Participate in care planning and assessments, including developing, reviewing, and implementing comprehensive resident care plans and ensuring nursing staff follow them.

  • Conduct regular rounds and monitor medication/treatment administration, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with physician orders and facility procedures.

  • Maintain staffing levels and delegate duties, ensuring adequate coverage and fair workload distribution, while addressing attendance, discipline, and staff performance.

  • Lead or attend committee meetings (e.g., QA, Infection Control, Care Plan) and implement recommendations or changes as needed.

  • Ensure safety and infection control compliance, including staff training, use of PPE, sanitary workspaces, and participation in drills and reporting protocols.

  • Assist in audits and surveys, prepare reports, and support quality assurance and regulatory compliance efforts across the nursing department.

  • Foster a supportive work environment, maintaining professional relationships with staff, residents, families, and other departments to promote quality care and teamwork.

  • Meet qualifications and licensure requirements, including holding a current RN license, CPR certification, relevant experience, and ongoing education in line with nursing best practices and facility expectations.
