POSITION PURPOSE

Coordinates interdisciplinary peer review activities of the MercyOne Medical Staffs. Coordinators activities associated with FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) and OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation). Assists in quality initiates as related to the medical staff. Coordinates External Peer Review services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Acquires and maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to retrieve data from hospital information systems including the EHR, Midas, and other databases. Conducts retrospective review of medical records for quality and safety reviews and peer review activities. Facilitates all peer review activities for each clinical department of the Medical Staff while working closely with the department chair, vice-chair, and/or quality chair. Facilitates interdisciplinary peer review meetings and other quality related committee activities. Coordinates FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation). Coordinates OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation). Coordinate External Peer Review Services per contracted agreements. Other duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa or Illinois.

Five (5) years clinical nursing experience required.

Basic understanding of performance improvement principles, data sampling, data collection, data analysis, and hospitalization procedures and practices related to patient care and utilization of acute care and ambulatory services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSN preferred.
