Pay Range: $15.50 - $23.22

Summary:

The Respiratory Care Specialist EMT assists and supports the Respiratory Therapy team. Serves patients who have trouble breathing, and those who have asthma or other pulmonary ailments. Tasks include providing oxygen and therapies to patients within the hospital setting. Must have strong communication skills and desire to help others.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assesses, plans, and implements treatments for acute respiratory disorders.

  • Administering treatments such as oxygen therapy, walking desaturation tests, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and assist the Respiratory Therapy team as needed.

  • O2 rounds, disassembles, and cleans Respiratory equipment and performs preventative maintenance according to standard operating procedure. 

  • Recognizing those patients that may require additional respiratory support at home prior to discharge.  Identifying patient and family needs. 

  • Identifies significant changes in patient's condition and reports to Respiratory Therapist

  • Completes all documentation, including order entry, verification, electronic medical record (EMR), medication charting, patient safety/incident variance reports, equipment repair tags, etc. according to standard operating procedure. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) | North Dakota Board of Emergency Services | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) | National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Prior to Start | Learning Management System
