Job description
The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transporting to post-collection facilities.



 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Safely operate side loader or recycling trucks and related equipment. 

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required reports. 

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report mechanical issues promptly. 

  • Identify and handle prohibited or hazardous waste in accordance with company procedures. 

  • Follow all safety, environmental, and company policies. 

  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with supervisors. 

  • Support route optimization and assist with overtime as needed. 

Requirements 

  • Education: High school diploma or GED (preferred) 

  • License: Valid Class 3 driver’s license 

  • Experience: Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a recognized CDL training program 

  • Physical Ability: Must meet physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs and maneuvering in tight spaces 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Ability to safely operate collection equipment and recognize disposal issues 

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 

  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance procedures 

  • Ability to perform manual labor and operate in varying environments 

Physical and Mental Demands 

  • Regular walking, climbing, kneeling, and lifting 

  • Ability to maintain focus and awareness while driving in high-traffic areas 

  • Work effectively in a noisy, fast-paced setting 

Working Conditions 

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) 

  • Frequent exposure to noise, odors, and moving vehicles 

  • Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions with proper protective equipment provided
