Job Description:

You'll be based in our Diest site and will be part of a surgical technical team, your responsabilities will be the following :

•   Administering medication as prescribed by the veterinary team and/or protocol specifications and documentation of medicine administration.

•   Performing and documenting routine clinical observations, collecting physiological data and information on animal health status.

•   Monitoring animals during their critical post-operative recovery phase and on the days following surgery including performing TRPs (temperature, pulse and respiration), auscultation of heart and lungs, assessing pain, changing wound dressings and bandages, collecting blood samples.  

•   Performing preventative health maintenance such as administering anthelmintics and vaccinations, hoof trimming, shearing, etc.

•   Contributing to all aspects of general husbandry procedures such as feeding and weighing of animals.

•   Supports the Surgical Technicians with preparing operating rooms for procedures, including setting up instruments and stocking study-specific supplies.

•   Participation in the weekend rotation, evening and night shifts.

•   Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Technical Competencies:


What we are looking for :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, e.g., agro- and biotechnology, veterinary technology or other relevant discipline.

  • Experience with GLP or other quality system is an asset but not a must.

  • You are dedicated to your tasks, precise and perfectionist, eager to learn, willing to invest time in your learning process and flexible in switching between tasks and duties.

  • Team player with a hands-on mentality and proactive approach.  

  • You are proficient in English.
