Research Support - Immunology and infectious disease

• Full time fixed term for 2 years at Camperdown

• Opportunity to contribute to the research on developing novel interventions for preventing and treating infectious diseases in humans

• Base Salary $86,511 + 17% superannuation

Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.  

We are seeking a Research Assistant with a strong background in immunology, infectious diseases, or tissue pathology, preferably with experience working with mice.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• work effectively with research fellows and postgraduate students to carry out research including animal husbandry and genotyping, mammalian cell culture, histology, biochemical and molecular biology techniques, mass spectrometry, and statistical analysis of large datasets.

• Perform tissue immunostaining and acquiring images using various technologies.

• Conduct and oversee in vivo mouse infection experiments in a containment laboratory.

• Monitor the health and progress of the mice throughout the experiments.

• Assist senior research staff in various aspects of laboratory management.

About you

• A Bachelor's Degree in a biological science discipline, with First Class Honours or equivalent experience

• experience and proficiency in basic laboratory and/or bioinformatic techniques, including but not limited to animal handling, molecular biology, cell culture, and/or statistical analysis of large datasets.Training will be provided where necessary

• proven ability to work collaboratively in research team

• experience with animal handling or infectious disease or pathology research is highly desirable

• a keen interest and enthusiasm for a biomedical research career is highly desirable.

Note : Interviews for this role will tentatively be held on 16 April 2025
