Job description

Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate I to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

We are seeking creative and upbeat Research Associate I that will assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results.

Responsibilities:

  • Flight testing.

  • Assist paper writing.

  • Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.

  • May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.

  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.

  • Research, develop, and test lightweight visual odometry and place recognition methods.

  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.

  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Strong Analytical Skills

  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills

  • Strong Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills

  • 1-3 Years of Research Experience

  • 1-3 Years of Research Lab Experience

  • 1-3 Years of Research Methodology Experience

  • 1-3 Years of Data Collection and Analysis Experience

Training:

  • OSHA Hazardous Materials Safety Training
