About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team investigating the roles of mitochondria, metabolism, and neural activity in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The successful candidate will also contribute to studies characterizing genetic pathways that regulate cellular energy levels.

This is a bench-intensive position that requires meticulous laboratory technique, strong record-keeping, and attention to detail. The Research Associate will gain hands-on experience with a wide range of experimental approaches and have the opportunity to contribute to publications. This role provides excellent preparation for future training in medical or bioscience graduate programs. A minimum 18-month commitment is required.

What you will do:

  • Perform laboratory experiments with a focus on:

    • Preparation of rodent and human neuronal cultures

    • Maintenance of mammalian cell lines

    • Molecular biology techniques including cloning

    • Flow cytometry and CRISPR-based screens

    • Assays of cellular metabolism

    • Fluorescence microscopy and immunohistochemistry

    • Work with mouse models of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease

  • Maintain detailed experimental records and ensure reproducibility of results

  • Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented research environment

  • Contribute to data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of research publications

What you will need:

  • Strong motivation and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Demonstrated academic excellence

What is preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field

  • Experience with mouse models, tissue culture, microscopy, and/or molecular biology

Salary Range:

$27-$31 hr
