The Research Assistant will provide support for interdisciplinary research on the intersection of biology and art, with particular emphasis on cell and developmental biology. Specific responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of a review essay on development and connections between biology and textile arts through literature searches, writing article summaries, and producing synthetic synopses; creating original artwork that illustrates fundamental principles of developmental biology; and supporting archival research on visualization in developmental biology through the scanning, photographing, and organizing of research materials—including micrographs, drawings, and research notebooks.
This is a fixed-term, seasonal position with an anticipated start date of 07/27/26, and an end date of 09/18/26.
Job Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology
Required: Undergraduate research experience, including successful scientific communication and writing
Required: Coursework and/or experience with graphic and sculptural arts
Required: Coursework in and/or equivalent experience with developmental biology
Required: Knowledge of photography and scanning methods, proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
Strong organizational, file management, and record-keeping skills
Demonstrated ability to illustrate or visually represent complex 3D forms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work carefully, independently, and collaboratively on interdisciplinary research projects
