Research & Academics Skills Mentor - Aug 2026

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Research & Academics Skills Mentor to join our team at GEMS International School Cairo for immediate start.

The Research & Study Skills Mentor, MYP & DP is a specialist teaching role within the Secondary Section at GEMS International School Cairo. The postholder is responsible for designing and delivering structured, evidence-based instruction in research methodology, academic writing, study skills, and digital literacy across both the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP). This is an active teaching role requiring lesson planning, delivery, assessment, and feedback. The postholder is not a support assistant, a cover supervisor, or an administrative coordinator. They are expected to deliver engaging, structured lessons to MYP and DP students at a standard consistent with GISC's teaching and learning expectations, and to demonstrate the professional presence, pedagogical expertise, and personal initiative required of any Secondary teacher at this school. The role exists to develop students' capacity to work independently, rigorously, and academically across all subjects, providing the transferable research and writing skills that underpin success in MYP assessments

Requirements

The successful applicants will have the following:

• A passion for providing outstanding teaching and driven to provide education at an exceptional level. Teachers enjoy an outstanding school environment in which to deliver a dynamic and creative curriculum to motivated students.
  
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
  
• Teachers are expected to have a current license/certification in their home country with a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience.
  
• IB PYP experience is preferred.
  
• Aspiration to work in a world class school with real prospects for enhancing their career.
