Collaborates with counselors, employers, educators, medical professionals, and community partners to improve employment, education, independent living, and rehabilitation outcomes through the effective use of assistive technology.</p>Duties include but are not limited to:<br><ul><li><p>Conduct comprehensive assistive technology assessments in homes, workplaces, schools, community settings, and other appropriate environments. Evaluate functional limitations related to vision loss, identify barriers to employment and independent living, determine appropriate assistive technology solutions, and document assessment findings in the agency's case management system.</p></li><li><p>Prepare detailed assistive technology assessment reports and recommendations that support consumer rehabilitation goals. Research and recommend appropriate hardware, software, low vision devices, mobile technology, and adaptive equipment. Coordinate with counselors and other professionals regarding assistive technology recommendations and implementation.</p></li><li><p>Configure, install, deliver, and demonstrate assistive technology equipment and software. Provide individualized instruction on the operation, maintenance, accessibility features, and troubleshooting of assistive technology devices. Provide follow-up technical support and additional training as needed.</p></li><li><p>Document consumer contacts, assessments, recommendations, equipment deliveries, training activities, follow-up services, equipment transfers, and other required case activities in the agency's electronic case management system. Maintain complete and accurate consumer records in accordance with agency policies.</p></li><li><p>Develop and conduct assistive technology demonstrations, workshops, presentations, and training sessions for consumers, agency staff, employers, educators, rehabilitation professionals, and community organizations. Participate in outreach activities to increase awareness of assistive technology services and resources.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Maintain demonstration equipment, consumer assistive technology inventory, and assigned equipment. Secure, organize, transport, inspect, troubleshoot, coordinate repairs, and maintain inventory records for assistive technology devices and related equipment.</span></p></li><li><p>Maintain knowledge of current assistive technology devices, adaptive software, accessibility standards, low vision technology, artificial intelligence applications, and emerging rehabilitation technologies through professional development activities, conferences, webinars, industry networking, certifications, and continuing education. Research and evaluate new assistive technology products for potential implementation.</p></li><li><p>Other duties as assigned.</p></li></ul><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">A high school diploma and experience in computer system development and modification. A bachelor's degree in a related area may substitute for the required work experience.</span><br><br><strong><u>Additional Requirements</u></strong><br>Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess good organizational skills, and the ability to use sound judgement. Must be able to work with minimal amount of supervision one on one and with a team.
