RESPONSIBLE TO
Nurse Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Assessment of the condition of tenants; coordination and supervision of care of the tenants; documentation of tenant information using an electronic medical record system; communication with the tenant and their family; and supervision of medication assistants and certified nurse assistants. Will be on call at times.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
- Must have the ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language to communicate effectively with the tenants, family members, and co-workers and to complete required documentation in the medical record and established forms etc.
- Must be knowledgeable of standard nursing process and practice, as well as regulations and guidelines governing assisted living. Also, have an aptitude for working with an electronic medical record system.
NURSING CARE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Is responsible and in charge of all aspects of nursing care of the tenants
- Supervision and assistance with tenant transfers and deaths
- Administration of medications and treatments as ordered by physician and according to facility policy and procedure
- Communication with tenants and/or family members in a timely manner any changes in condition
- Receiving or obtaining written orders from physicians utilizing the electronic medical record system
- Must be able to stand, walk, talk, and push, pull or lift up to 25 lbs up to and over 2/3rds of your assigned shift time and up to 50 lbs 1/3rd of your assigned time; will need to
- Stoop, kneel, crouch up to 2/3rds of assigned shift; also need to be able to reach with hands, arms and grasps, finger and handle frequently throughout the assigned shift
- Must have the visual acuity sufficient for reading
- Thermometers, gauges, calibration of syringes, written instruction, medication cards and labels, and documentation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the supervision and direction of Medication assistants and CNAs, including their performance of tenant care and job duties
- Compliance with nursing, safety and facility policy and procedures and team work efforts
- Must be aware of, follows, supports the OSHA’s Volunteer Protection Program(VVP), as well as Missouri Slope’s Risk Management/Safety program and holds staff accountable to comply with all related policy and procedures
- Fosters and encourages cooperation of personnel between shifts and other departments in a positive manner to ensure the continuum of care

- Demonstrates integrity, calm manner and respect for others in interactions with tenants, family members, co-workers and the public
- Demonstrates responsible, flexible and dependable behavior in performing duty assignments and in attendance of scheduled shifts
- Demonstrates support of and compliance with tenant rights in all regards including confidentiality of tenant information and refrains from any action that would be considered abusive physically, emotionally or verbally and hold staff accountable to this standard also
- Demonstrates calm demeanor during critical times and flexibility with changes and procedures as the need arises
- Demonstrates Missouri Slope’s customer service standards of excellence

A well-lighted and well ventilated 64 apartment retirement community on 2 levels with carpeted or vinyl floors.
