The Regional Sales Manager is an individual contributor responsible for driving orders growth and managing customer relationships within an assigned territory for ORTEC products and solutions. This role owns a territory, quota, and portfolio of customer accounts and is responsible for developing and executing territory sales plans, managing the sales pipeline and forecast, and closing opportunities across both existing customers and new prospects.
Success in this position requires strong technical and commercial acumen, disciplined funnel management, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across a matrixed organization.
Key Responsibilities
Territory & Account Management
- Manage a portfolio of customers within an assigned territory, maintaining detailed knowledge of customer activities, applications, and product needs.
- Build and strengthen relationships across customer communities and facilities.
- Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve orders, revenue, and margin objectives.
- Drive new business development within existing accounts and identify, qualify, and develop new customers throughout the region.
- Coordinate with other territory managers to support customers and account opportunities that span geographic regions.
Sales Execution & Business Development
- Own the territory opportunity pipeline and maintain accurate customer activity, opportunity, and forecasting data.
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities through direct customer engagement and collaboration with internal teams.
- Lead customer presentations, proposal development, solution discussions, and sales activities.
- Conduct commercial discussions, including pricing, negotiations, and closing activities aligned with business objectives.
- Provide monthly sales forecasts and weekly business updates to the US Sales Manager.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with inside sales, technical support, and applications teams to identify and expand account opportunities.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to address business challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Support customers by coordinating resources to ensure issues and concerns are resolved quickly and effectively.
Customer & Industry Engagement
- Represent ORTEC at customer sites, industry conferences, trade shows, and other professional events.
- Deliver technical application support and help customers identify solutions that meet their operational requirements.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field or equivalent relevant technical experience
- Minimum of four years of technical sales or direct customer-interactive technical support for scientific or industrial products
- Proven ability to manage a territory, develop pipeline, and close complex sales opportunities
- Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a range of stakeholders
- Experience maintaining forecasts and managing opportunities in CRM systems
- Ability to travel regionally as required
Preferred Skills
- Experience selling scientific instrumentation, radiation detection, nuclear measurement, or other highly technical capital equipment
- Familiarity with customer segments such as government, national labs, academia, nuclear, or industrial markets
- Experience working in a matrixed sales environment with inside sales, applications, and engineering teams
- Demonstrated success navigating longer, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
- Understanding of territory planning, pricing strategy, and margin management
Technical Knowledge
- This position requires a self-starting, results oriented, individual who can drive results which include topline growth and consistent margin/profit improvement.
- In addition, a strong technical background in radiation detection instruments and applications is desired.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with regular travel required to regional locations and key customers.
- Occasional evenings or weekends as business needs require.
