Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute advanced surface and interface characterization projects using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and related Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) techniques.

  • Develop quantitative methodologies for nanoscale topography, mechanical, electrical, and surface property characterization.

  • Perform and interpret advanced AFM measurements including: KPFM (Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy), EFM (Electrostatic Force Microscopy), QNM/Nanomechanical Characterization, LFM (Lateral Force Microscopy), Conductive AFM

  • Collaborate closely with Reliability, Process Development, Materials R&D, and Failure Analysis teams to identify root causes and solve complex technical issues.

  • Develop new characterization workflows and data analysis methodologies to improve understanding of material interfaces and process-performance relationships.

  • Support technology development programs related to advanced packaging, interconnect materials, conductive adhesives materials.

  • Communicate technical findings through reports, presentations, and technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience operating AFM/SPM systems.

  • Strong understanding of nanoscale surface and interface characterization principles.

  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following techniques: KPFM, EFM, QNM, LFM, Conductive AFM

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to independently design experiments, analyze data, and derive actionable conclusions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SIMS, XPS, AES, or other advanced surface analytical techniques is highly desirable.

  • Semiconductor or advanced packaging industry experience is strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to address critical surface and interface characterization challenges and support failure analysis investigations.

  • Experience characterizing nanoscale electrical, mechanical, and tribological properties using advanced AFM/SPM techniques.

  • Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams across R&D, Reliability, Process Development, and Failure Analysis.
