JOB LOCATION – Wilkes-Barre General Hospital

JOB SHIFT – Per Diem

POSITION PURPOSE

Student technologists must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. Student technologists must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique up to their level of competency. He or she must maintain knowledge about radiation protection and safety. Student technologists prepare for and assist the Radiologist in the completion of radiographic examinations. They prepare and administer contrast media under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist. Student technologists are the primary liaison between patients and Radiologists and other members of the support team. They must remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills. Student technologists use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties. Quality improvement and customer service allows the student technologists to be a responsible member of the health care team by continually assessing professional performance. Student technologists embrace education for optimal patient care, enhanced knowledge and technical competence.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Student in an accredited program in Radiology Technology either hospital based or college degree program.
  • Completion of one year of clinical experience in Radiology Department and 50% or better completion of required clinical/procedural competencies.

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

  • Completion of one year of clinical experience in Radiology Department and 50% or better completion of required clinical/procedural competencies.
  • Technical expertise up to level of competency, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, knowledge of radiation protection, communication skills, patient care and computer skills.

Licenses/Certificates

  • Student in an accredited program in Radiology Technology either hospital based or college degree program.
  • BLS required
