The Radiation Therapist treats cancer patients using x-rays. They are responsible for setting up the patients in the correct treatment position to deliver radiation precisely to the targeted area.Essential Job Functions:
Delivers radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescription and standard operating procedures and completes all required documentation.
Executes the precise positioning of the patient with respect to radiation beam and treatment area.
Observes and assesses patient for clinical changes and reports signs of complications.
Applies principles of basic radiation physics, radiation interactions and radiation protection, i.e., wears radiation film badge.
Completes Quality Assurance tracking, records results and assists in maintaining records.
Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
