Job Purpose and Impact

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands - This is a Permanent, Monday-Friday position based at the Botlek location  

 

The Food Innovation Edible Oils & Foodservice team develops innovative products and processes supporting the Fats and Oils product lines for profitable growth. In this team knowledge is build and science is translated into practical approaches and successful customer solutions.

 

The team has a global reach and is fully aligned with the innovation strategy of the Fats & Oils product lines. The innovation is delivered through specific projects, which are typically multi-disciplinary and/or multi-regional.

 

The Food Innovation Edible Oils & Foodservice team consists of processing and product development scientists, analytical scientists and analysts, engineers and lab technologists with backgrounds in food technology, (analytical) chemistry and engineering.

 

Based out of Rotterdam Botlek and as part of the Food Innovation Edible Oils & Foodservice team, R&D Lab & Pilot plant technologist will contribute to the development activities for innovative new products and processes by organizing and performing scientific research projects for Edible Oils & Fats.

In this role, you will develop theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and relevant pattern for research into potential new products or inventions.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts
  • Participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications
  • Present ongoing work and findings to senior staff and external events and summarizes the nature and methodology of the research
  • Collaborate with industry or academic specialists to apply the results of research and develop new techniques
  • Create and conduct experiments and analyzes results and data
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters Degree in a relevant Scientific discipline (for example Food Engineering, Food Chemistry)
  • Fluent English - Another language (Dutch) is useful but not required 
  • Lab experience in the Food Industry 
  • Minimum requirement of 1 year of relevant experience
