Qnity’s CMP business is seeking a highly motivated R&D Senior Technologist to join the Advanced Characterization Group in Newark, Delaware. In this role, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise and analytical support to multidisciplinary teams focused on the development of innovative CMP products and technical solutions.
The position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, and technologists in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, helping to drive projects from concept through successful implementation. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in polymer chemistry and instrumentation-based laboratory characterization, particularly as it relates to CMP pad technology, processing, and materials characterization.

Position Summary/Overview:
  • Work safely in an R&D environment, actively participate in company safety programs.
  • Generate and maintain documentation in electronic databases and laboratory notebooks for the safe and productive operation of equipment and tools. 
  • Perform polymer chemistry and analysis (e.g. cloud point titration) to support new product development
  • Operate advanced analytical characterization techniques, including SEM/EDS
  • Generate high-quality analytical data and provide clear, actionable insights through reports and presentations
  • Design and execute experiments in collaboration with scientists to support product development, customer issues, and manufacturing challenges
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Field Service, QC) to solve complex technical problems
  • Proactively identify and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime
  • Utilize statistical tools (e.g., JMP) to support data-driven decisions
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, material science, or related field
  • Developed strong knowledge and hands-on experience with SEM/EDS as well as analytical techniques specifically related to polymer chemistry (e.g., cloud point titration)
  • Possess a track record of working with a Safety oriented mind set
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems with strong attention to details
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams
  • Basic to advanced knowledge and usage of statistical methodology and related software (JMP)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in chemistry, material science, or related field
  • Previous experience in electronic/semiconductor business
  • Exposure to, or interest, in advanced microscopic and imaging techniques
  • Broad laboratory experience in material/polymer characterization, including titration, microscopy, and spectroscopy
  • Desire to expand analytical knowledge into technical ownership
  • Familiarity with data systems, databases, and collaborative platforms (e.g., SharePoint)
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous learning
