LOCATION DETAILS Farmers Branch, TX

WORK HOURS Monday – Friday, 7am – 4pm

Full time regular position, team members work 8-hour shifts for 40 hours per week. Shift times may vary, and extra hours may be added to your schedule to ensure we fulfill our commitments to customers.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join the Varsity Brands team as a Quality Assurance Testing and color Technician. This role is responsible for conducting performance testing on fabric, finished garments and trims.  This role also includes color and shade matching evaluations using both visual and instrumental methods ensuring consistency across Varsity Brands fabrics and manufacturers.  This position requires an understanding of textile testing methods as well as the ability to interpret technical data.

  • Conducts internal product performance testing.  Operates testing equipment, conducts testing in accordance with ASTM and AATCC protocols, and drafts internal test reports.
  • Educates and communicates Product Performance Standards to internal teams, and fabric mills.
  • Manages internal testing laboratory. Maintains and calibrates all testing equipment.
  • Coordinates third party lab testing when required.  Review third party test reports and provide feedback to key stakeholders.
  • Analyze any recurring product performance testing issues and report findings to leadership.
  • Conduct color assessments on fabrics and trims using spectrophotometers, light booths, and other visual evaluation tools.
  • Review and analyze color submissions from suppliers, ensuring adherence to the company’s color standards.
  • Subject matter expert for all technical product performance related matters.
  • Partners with Raw Materials, Product Development, Sourcing, and Design to stay aligned and informed with respect to product updates, new and existing suppliers, regulations, etc.
  • Maintains relationships with 3rd party testing services and vendors
  • Stays current on new technologies in the textile industry with respect to new fibers, finishes, testing protocols, etc.
  • Conducts Trouble-Shooting testing to determine root cause of customer returns and complaints.
  • Interacts with Factory Questions and Returns personnel related to the above.
  • Provides technical expertise and support during the product life cycle.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication, presentation, and decision-making skills with ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels.
  • Analytical, organizational, problem solving, and creative resolution skills.
  • Familiarization with Industry standards including FTC, AATCC, ASTM preferred.
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail and meet critical deadlines within a high-volume environment.
  • Proficient in executing tests.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Chemistry, or comparable degree preferred 
  • 1-2 years’ experience in the Textile & apparel industry preferred  
  • Knowledge of AATCC, ASTM, ISO standard test methods 
  • Knowledge of federal regulatory requirements pertaining to textiles and apparel including CPSC, FTC, Prop 65, FLA, etc. 
  • Working knowledge of textile/apparel product processes and performance, testing standards, and requirements including proven ability to make technical decisions impacting product at all stages of production. 
  • Experience in PLM or related system for management of product testing.
