Position: Quality Technician I
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Shift: 4 x4 shifts: 6:45pm – 7am
Pay Rate: $28.77

While reporting to the Plant Quality Manager, as a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring quality expectations of every customer, both internal and external are met or exceeded. Safety, quality, productivity and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, participating in monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections and investigating accidents as required.
  • Supports and follows the SQF (Safe Quality Food) guidelines of the food safety system.
  • Follows company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), practices and Sonoco's Global Code of Conduct.
  • Conducts inspections of raw, in-process materials and finished products to meet SMP specifications. This includes, but is not limited to, visual and dimensional checks on material and/or product using SOP's and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Advises production when inspection results do not meet SMP specifications.
  • Follows HFI (Hold For Inspection) procedures.
  • Performs record keeping, filing and related duties as required.
  • Conducts troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on inspection equipment as required.
  • Communicates pertinent information to next shift and leadership.
  • Responsible for replenishing supplies and materials required for assigned areas.
  • Understands, completes, maintains environmental and SDS documentation for which the individual is trained (i.e. inspections, labeling, record keeping, maintenance of equipment, etc) as directed by management.
  • Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
