Job description

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all quality-related functions across the plant, including inspection, documentation, customer quality/warranty issues, and system approvals. This role focuses on developing and continuously improving standards for receiving inspection, in-process packaging, and final inspection activities, ensuring they are performed safely and to the highest quality. The Quality Supervisor will champion defect prevention and correction at every stage, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

This position requires a proactive, punctual, and detail-oriented leader who takes personal responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining high standards.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and evaluate products and processes to ensure consistent quality standards.

  • Collaborate with the operations team to address internal quality concerns, implement corrective actions, track progress, and ensure effective resolutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement by managing quality improvement projects and presenting recommendations for enhancement.

  • Track, measure, and report progress on improvement initiatives, goals, and challenges, preparing reports and presentations for management.

  • Develop and maintain work instructions and quality specifications to standardize processes.

  • Conduct process quality evaluations, report findings, and lead investigations to resolve issues.

  • Facilitate initiatives to reduce rework, lower poor-quality costs, and enhance process capability.

  • Analyze return and warranty data to identify trends, conduct evaluations, and implement resolutions.

  • Support Operations, Purchasing, Catalog, Sales, and Management in developing procedures to meet customer requirements.

  • Implement efficient, cost-effective inspection processes to ensure product and process quality.

  • Stay current on gauging, inspection, and statistical technologies, and manage customer quality audits and surveys.

  • Supervise, mentor, and train quality personnel within the quality group.

  • Embed defect prevention and correction at every operational stage, encouraging employee ownership of quality and reducing reliance on end-of-line inspections.

  • Conduct quarterly audits and reviews to assess quality control effectiveness and recommend improvements.

  • Partner with operations to train and supervise team members.

  • Maintain confidentiality of business strategies, trade secrets, and financial information to protect operations.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and anti-trust regulations, addressing concerns and liabilities as needed.

  • Lead special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional time management, communication, and attention to detail.

  • Strong knowledge of formal statistical methods.

  • Certification in Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., TOC, Lean, Six Sigma).

  • Proven ability to multitask effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, email, and other programs).
