This person will own the public affairs agenda for their markets, shape government relations strategy, and deliver outcomes that protect and enable UPS operations and business growth. This is a hands-on, business-embedded public affairs leadership role with clear ownership across four markets, strong operational proximity, and a mandate to deliver outcomes that matter to a global logistics leader. The Director of Public Affairs reports directly to the Vice President of Public Affairs for the UPS EMEA Region, with a dotted line to the Managing Director for Benelux and France.

What You’ll Do

  • Assess relevant legislative/regulatory/political developments and stakeholder positions across the West Cluster (Belgium, Netherlands, France, Luxembourg).

  • Develop and execute advocacy strategies that protect UPS operations, network efficiency, and enable business growth.

  • Draft and steer high-quality advocacy collateral (briefings, position papers, consultation responses, executive talking points).

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with relevant policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders.

  • Deliver bespoke analysis of political developments as they relate to UPS business priorities.

  • Lead UPS participation in relevant trade associations in your markets, assume leadership roles within trade associations and manage cross-functional UPS engagement in these organizations.

  • Partner closely with internal leaders and operations to ensure government relations strategy is business-aligned. Participate regularly in internal business reviews and contribute relevant public policy context to business strategy development.

  • Respond to local business needs related to municipal/regional/national government as they arise.

  • Engage in public speaking and media-facing opportunities where appropriate.

Your experience

  • 15+ years in government relations / public affairs / public policy (corporate, public sector, trade association, etc.).

  • Experience relevant to transportation/logistics (e.g. transport, trade, customs, sustainability, labour/employment, other related policy areas).

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive advocacy strategies with real-world outcomes.

  • Experience in public speaking/external relations.

  • Post-graduate education in relevant field e.g. political science/public policy.

Who are you

  • Self-starter: comfortable with independent ownership, prioritization, and execution of advocacy strategies.

  • Strong communicator (written + verbal) with excellent stakeholder instincts and commitment to credibility and integrity in all public affairs engagements.

  • Commercially curious: motivated to deepen business and operational acumen and work shoulder-to-shoulder with operations leaders.

Languages

  • Professional fluency in English, Dutch, and French is required.

Location and travelling

  • This role is office-based in the UPS EMEA HQ in Brussels, Belgium.

  • Some travel required (primarily Eindhoven and Paris), driving license necessary.
