Job description

The Berlin Steel Construction Company is a full-service specialty contractor, primarily with structural steel and miscellaneous metals. We design, fabricate, and erect structures in the Northeast and in other parts of the country. We have 2 fabrication facilities, 4 erection operations facilities, and 6 office locations that provide engineering and management of projects. We are a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP) with a desire for growth. We service the private commercial, public, institutional, and industrial markets.

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Project Manager to support structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects across multiple regions. This position is ideal for a self-sufficient construction professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and can independently manage projects from award through closeout.

This is not a remote position. Candidates must be willing to travel based on project needs. When assigned to a project in a market where Berlin Steel has an office, the expectation is that the Project Manager will work out of that office location while supporting the project.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage structural steel and miscellaneous metals construction projects from project turnover through completion
  • Oversee project financials, scheduling, coordination, subcontractors, RFIs, change orders, and contract compliance
  • Coordinate with engineering, detailing, fabrication, erection, vendors, and customers to keep projects moving efficiently
  • Maintain project schedules, track milestones, and proactively resolve issues
  • Participate in job meetings, site visits, and customer coordination meetings
  • Support project execution while maintaining quality, safety, and budget expectations
  • Prepare and manage cost tracking, billing support, and project documentation

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–7+ years of structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals experience required
  • Proven experience independently managing construction projects
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection processes, drawings, sequencing, and field coordination
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with minimal oversight
  • Experience handling project financials, schedules, subcontractors, and customer communication
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel as project needs require
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience with construction/project management software systems

Why Berlin Steel?

Berlin Steel is a 100% employee-owned ESOP company with a long-standing reputation in the structural steel industry. Our teams support some of the region’s most complex and high-profile projects while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and collaboration.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to take ownership of impactful projects and work alongside experienced industry professionals, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
