Job description

Company Description

At Autoscience Institute, we create AI systems that autonomously conduct AI research. Recently, we announced the first AI agent to autonomously create peer-reviewed literature (ICLR 2025 Workshops). We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence and contributing to groundbreaking advancements in the field.

Role Description

This is a full time role for a Project Manager located in the San Francisco Bay Area, working on site.

With paying enterprise customers now on the platform, this role exists to keep our engineering and research teams shipping clean, reliable work on schedule. The person in this role needs to be technical enough to follow architecture discussions and design docs, but is focused on execution, not code. You'll be the person the team trusts to turn ambiguous priorities into a real plan and hold everyone accountable to it.

Responsibilities

  • Own program status across engineering and research workstreams, proactively identifying risks and unblocking progress before they threaten a milestone

  • Translate customer commitments into clear internal priorities and timelines

  • Act as a technical bridge between engineers, researchers, and customer facing stakeholders

  • Partner with engineering leads and researchers to turn ambiguous priorities into concrete, sequenced plans

  • Keep leadership informed on progress, risk, and delivery timelines

  • Instill a culture of shipping reliably: clean, tested, production ready work, on schedule

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Project Manager, Program Manager, or Technical Program Manager at a fast moving software or AI company

  • Comfort reading technical specs, architecture docs, or PRs well enough to follow the conversation

  • Track record of holding technical teams accountable to deadlines without being their manager

  • Strong organizational instincts and excellent communication skills across technical and non technical stakeholders

  • A natural ability to build trust and rapport with engineers and researchers

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity at an early stage startup with a small, fast moving team

  • Bias toward action and follow through

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience supporting teams with live enterprise customers and real SLAs and commitments

  • Prior experience as a software engineer or in a hands on technical role before moving into program or project management

  • Familiarity with AI and ML product development cycles

Benefits & Perks

  • Our comp is competitive against major LLM frontier lab packages

  • Unlimited PTO and flexible working arrangements

  • Conference attendance and publication support

Our Culture
We’re a team of passionate researchers, engineers, and operators working to automate scientific discovery. We believe in the power of AI to accelerate scientific discovery and are committed to responsible AI development.

We are an e-verify employer.
