Project Coordinator

Job Description:

Position Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Project Coordinator provides IRB, recruitment, enrollment, and data collection support with the ongoing research studies focused in the following areas: 1) access to healthcare among trans people insured by Medicare and Medicaid; 2) medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and Medicaid policy.

Typical duties include: Supporting recruitment and retention efforts that lead to study participation. Arranging and conducting interviews with participants; Coordinating with other community partner recruitment sites; maintaining regulatory procedures; assisting in the development and organization of study materials; scheduling meetings; drafting agendas for regular study meetings; taking detailed notes; coding and analyzing qualitative data; developing and co-delivering presentations; preparing and editing annual reports to funders; and assisting with IRB submissions.

Additional duties include: Assisting with the publication of research findings through editing, writing, and preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations; Assisting with grant writing and study progress reports as needed; Maintaining current knowledge of substance use and trans health research by reading medical journals, articles and other substance use and trans healthcare-related publications; Attending conferences, seminars, forums, trainings and other presentations pertinent to the field.

This is a hybrid position. In-person or off-site/field work requirements will fluctuate over time according to study-related demands.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 6/1/2027 which may be extended based upon available funding.

Job Qualifications and Competencies

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in social science research or related field and 2-5 years of relevant experience, Master’s in Public Health preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience/Other Preferred Skills

• Prior experience conducting human subjects research is highly desired

• Experience analyzing data using SPSS, SAS, or similar statistical software

• Undergraduate or master’s coursework in statistics and research methods is highly desirable

• Experience preparing reports for study funders

• Experience working with IRBs

• Bilingual (English and Spanish) 

• Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment 

• Understanding of and/or experience working with sexual and gender minority populations, people who use drugs, and people at risk for or living with HIV

• Data management experience (Qualtrics, RedCap, etc.)

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines

• Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Creation of charts & graphs using Microsoft Excel, and

• PowerPoint

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion

• Proven ability to work independently, seek out solutions to problems, apply good judgment, and

• responsible decision-making, and work well with others

• Demonstrated ability to understand, explain, and implement protocols 

• Proven track record of productivity and time management

• Willingness to travel locally, domestically, and internationally as needed

• Some travel may be required
