Responsible for technical design, implementation, development and maintenance of Truven products. The programmer/analyst will work with lead researchers in developing and implementing specific analyses for projects. Strong technical skills, attention to detail and a collaborative attitude are needed in this role. 


This position can be located in Ann Arbor, MI; Bethesda, MD; Cambridge, MA; Durham, NC; Santa Barbara, CA or Woodlawn, MD. 

Essential Responsibilities 


Collaborate with researchers on project specific analyses.

Design, code and test software to conform to analytic specifications while adhering to Truven software standards

Write clear external and in-code documentation.

Provide input and feedback on any analysis plans and specifications, including time/effort

Maintain and improve current processes, and methodologies

Perform other related duties as assigned by senior staff

Required Skills and Experience


Candidate must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the SAS programming language

5+ years SAS programming as well as experience with healthcare claims data

Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytic skills

Good at identifying and resolving any data issues

Experience with Microsoft products

Good oral and written communication skills

Experience with formal specification and testing documentation.

Able to work independently in a team environment

Excellent attention to detail

Is able to collaborate well with members of team

Is able to manage several tasks occurring concurrently

Desired Skills and Experience


Experience with data quality analysis

Knowledge of other programming languages and/or packages as well as environments such as Unix
