Program Manager, Digital Solutions (m/f/d)

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Munich site, Laralab GmbH in the Medical Devices division.

The Digital Solutions organization reports into Abbott Medical Devices and is responsible for leveraging digitally enabled technology to improve disease detection and diagnosis, procedural planning and execution, and chronic care delivery to provide our customers with best-in-class experiences that support our collective mission to improve patient outcomes.

What You’ll Work On

The Program Manager, Digital Solutions (m/f/d) leads the planning, execution, and delivery of digital health initiatives, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI) solutions supporting improved planning and execution of cardiovascular procedures. This role bridges clinical, technical, and business teams to implement innovative digital solutions that enhance patient care, engagement, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders, as well as external partners, to build our next generation of digital offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: Lead development and deployment activities for digital health products and platforms designed to improve the planning and execution of medical procedures through the integration of advanced digital tools (e.g., AI, ML) and enhanced data exchange/interoperability across hospital systems (e.g., EHR, PACS).
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead cross-disciplinary teams including engineering, clinical, product, and external vendors.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, leadership, and external partners.
  • Compliance & Quality: Ensure programs meet regulatory, privacy, and security standards (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, privacy).
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to leadership on program status, KPIs, and outcomes.
  • Process Development: Identify areas of opportunity to improve business processes and design/deploy solutions for predictable program execution and effective reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g., engineering, data science, software)
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of program management or equivalent working experience in medical device development or other regulated industry
  • Proficiency in German and English
  • Proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Strong leadership, communication and analytical skills
  • Results oriented with focused urgency, prioritization skills, and the ability to recognize/escalate issues appropriately
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends
  • Creative problem solver, agile mindset
  • Proven ability to manage to plan and to clarify and resolve issues and actions effectively
  • Excellent reputation for building relationships across various levels of an organization
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced and changing environment and work with minimal direction
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to execute with quality
  • Ability to work effectively on a global team

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or similar certification
  • MBA or other related advanced degree
  • Familiarity with machine learning, natural language processing, or predictive analytics in a clinical setting
  • Experience with AI technologies in healthcare and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Oracle)
  • Experience with interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR)
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Agile or hybrid project management methodologies
  • Medical device development experience
  • Experience working in a regulated business (e.g. validated software related to medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences products)
  • Experience in digital technology, preferably in the health or medical space
  • Travel: 20% (including international)
