Job description

The Production Engineer will be responsible for the effective production of wells in an assigned asset.  This includes working with other employees and reviewing the wells to identify opportunities to increase the value or cash flow of the asset.   Projects will be focused on increasing production from existing wells, bringing on-line newly completed wells, reducing expenses across the operation, optimizing artificial lift, or preparing AFEs and workover procedures. This person will also provide support to field operations to work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while complying with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the base production performance of the assigned area.
  • Conduct reviews and optimization of existing producing wells to maximize value and cash flow of current assets.
  • Optimize existing artificial lift systems, including gas lift, plunger lift, rod pump, jet pump, and ESP.
  • Optimize compressor configurations throughout the field.
  • Monitor early flowback and production of recently completed wells. Interact with other technical disciplines and field personnel to continuously improve new well productivity.
  • Track production variance, well failures, and other relevant data points to further optimize field operations.
  • Evaluate new artificial lift systems and recommend implementation as appropriate.
  • Interface with field operations team and provide ongoing engineering support
  • Monitor production trends, lead troubleshooting of problem wells, and design workover programs as necessary.
  • Review and write technical recommendations for engineering and management personnel.
  • Update best practices and work with Engineering and Optimization teams to apply Continuous Process Improvement concepts.
  • Support Supply Chain department in procurement activities including regular vendor meetings, Request for Proposal (RFP) and performance feedback.
  • Prepare monthly LOE accruals and forecasts and verify production volumes for monthly accruals.
  • Provide engineering support as needed for bolt on acquisitions or new basin development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, required.
  • Field-based operations experience in Production or Completions is highly desired.
  • 5+ years’ experience working as a Production or Completions Engineer in Unconventional reservoirs, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of government regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Understanding of Compression, Gas Lift, Rod Pump, and Plunger Lift artificial lift systems.
  • Understanding of typical upstream facility operations and process flow is a plus.
