Job description

Help simplify and future-proof ING’s Savings landscape. As Product Manager, you drive the controlled decommissioning of a legacy employee-facing Savings application and related integration services, while enabling the move towards modern APIs and target-state solutions. This is a role for a Product Manager who can turn complexity into clarity: protecting critical assisted Savings journeys today while helping build a cleaner, more resilient architecture for tomorrow.

The team

You work at the intersection of business, IT, architecture, operations, risk and dependent domains within the Savings area. The team focuses on keeping key customer journeys reliable while phasing out legacy components that support assisted Savings flows such as opening, changing, closing and managing savings agreements. You act as the linking pin across teams, aligning priorities, dependencies and decisions so migration work progresses in a controlled, compliant and value-driven way.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role, you translate business priorities and target architecture into a clear roadmap and backlog, while safeguarding continuity during migration.

  • Own and manage the backlog for decommissioning the legacy assisted-channel Savings application and migrating integration services to modern APIs.
  • Define a roadmap aligned with business priorities, IT capacity, architecture direction and regulatory timelines.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into epics, features and user stories that teams can deliver.
  • Prioritise work based on customer impact, business value, risk reduction, dependencies and decommissioning timelines.
  • Drive the phased migration towards target APIs and future-proof solutions, including redesign of impacted customer journeys and business flows.
  • Coordinate analysis of impacted services, queues, consumers, processes and operational dependencies, ensuring they are assessed and migrated where needed.
  • Align with architects and engineers to move from current-state analysis to approved target designs and forward engineering.
  • Manage stakeholders by communicating progress, risks, dependencies, decisions and required support clearly.
  • Support sprint planning, refinement, acceptance, release preparation, testing and decommissioning readiness.
  • Identify delivery, operational, customer, compliance and security risks early and define practical mitigation actions.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • You bring 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Business Product Owner, Customer Journey Expert or similar role, helping teams deliver change in a complex IT environment.
  • You have experience with legacy system decommissioning, API migration, platform transformation or large-scale technology change, so you can guide migration choices with confidence.
  • You understand customer journeys, business processes, system integrations, APIs and enterprise architecture, enabling you to connect business impact with IT delivery.
  • You create clarity in complex environments by defining scope, ownership, decisions and next steps across multiple teams and domains.
  • You communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, architects, engineers, operations and risk partners, translating technical topics into business language.
  • You combine analytical thinking with pragmatism, helping teams balance migration momentum with operational stability, compliance and security.
  • You are fluent in English; Dutch language skills are an advantage.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, regulated environments, assisted-channel banking or decommissioning governance is a plus.
