Grow with us

About this opportunity:

The telecom industry has in recent years taken a shift towards a more data-driven focused standardization. Through the artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) for NR air interface feasibility study and specification work in 3GPP Rel-19 and Rel-20, the industry has realized the complexity in taking a data-driven approach to the air interface design. The development of AI for the 6G air interface specification is widely expected to include more advanced use-cases enabled by hardware suitable for AI workloads in both UE/chipset and network nodes.

Join our Team

Responsabilities:

- Standardization leadership: Identify, develop concepts, and implement novel AI/ML use cases concepts that contribute to achieving leadership in standardization fora for the technical area.

- Standardization contributions: Drive the strategy, development, and submission of Ericsson contributions to standardization bodies (primarily 3GPP).

- Standards developing organizations (SDOs): Ensure Ericsson are present and carry out work within the technical area in-line with Ericsson’s view in relevant SDOs.

- Standardization steering: Ensure developed standardization concepts are in line with Ericsson’s long-term strategic interests, including product roadmap.

- Technical oversight of AI/ML for the Air Interface standardization: Maintain expert technical knowledge in the area, act as a reference person for questions and decisions in the area, technical alignment with BNEW RAN Software & Compute Platforms Engineering (RCE) AI & Emerging Technologies, technical alignment with BNEW S&T (SWEA, AI-RAN Alliance) in the area.

- Act as an Expert in Artificial Intelligence and RAN technologies for 3GPP RAN working groups, providing understanding of the relevant 3GPP standardization efforts, industry trends in the area including competitor activities, and state of the art in academia in the research area especially focused the air interface but also extending to at least layers 2 and 3 including, among others, MIMO, scheduling, radio resource management (RRM), and mobility.

Skills

Qualifications

- Proven experience both in Artificial Intelligence and RAN technologies, it is expected to have expert knowledge in 3GPP-based RAN Layer 1.

- Excellent understanding of the relevant 3GPP standardization efforts, industry trends in the area including competitor activities, and state of the art in academia.

- Deep understanding of the research area especially focused the air interface but also extending to at least layers 2 and 3 including, among others, MIMO, scheduling, radio resource management (RRM), and mobility.

- Competence and experience in developing and evaluating concepts for 5G, 6G, and 802.11 technologies, understanding the evolution of radio-access network technologies and the recent AI/ML related proprietary and standardization work.

- Experience with emerging AI technologies and their applications is important as the technology area evolves rapidly and provide new possibilities.

- Experience with link- and system-level simulators and/or hardware implementations of AI/ML and model-based radio algorithms.

- Capability to fluently interact with internal and external stakeholders and efficiently develop technical strategies.

- Extensive track record of technical publications in top-rated venues and IPR generation.

- PhD degree in related topic.
