Principal Product Owner, Notifications team (Sabre Customer Messaging/Sabre Traveler Communication)
Team Description
Sabre is looking for a Principal Product Owner to lead the Sabre Custom Messaging (SCM) and Sabre Traveler Communications (STC) product portfolio.
SCM and STC are closely related communication products that enable airlines, travel agencies, and travelers to receive timely, relevant, and branded communications throughout the travel journey. The portfolio includes traveler communications and document delivery, customer-branded messaging, event-driven operational notifications, and email, SMS, and push channels, supported by configurable templates, content, and branding. SCM supports customized, customer-branded messaging and communications for airline customers. STC is a traveler communications platform that provides outbound emails, itineraries, invoices, trip proposals, and related communications through Sabre Red and connected platforms.
This is a high-impact, hands-on individual-contributor role with end-to-end responsibility for product direction, customer and market input, investment recommendations, roadmap, backlog quality, execution support, and product expertise across both products. You will work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Commercial, Sales, Delivery, Customer Care, and airline and travel-agency customers to ensure SCM and STC meet customer needs, support Sabre's technology strategy, and enable modern travel retailing and servicing experiences.
The ideal candidate combines product leadership, customer focus, and strong execution, with the curiosity and confidence to partner effectively with Engineering and Architecture. Deep technical expertise is not required; you should be comfortable discussing product and platform trade-offs and helping teams shape practical, scalable solutions. You will work across complex enterprise platforms, messaging and notification capabilities, agile teams, and emerging technologies such as AI.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 8 years of product-management experience, ideally in enterprise technology, travel technology, e-commerce, digital platforms, messaging or communications platforms, or a similarly complex software domain.
Proven ability to own product vision, strategy, roadmaps, priorities, and investment recommendations, and to translate customer needs, market trends, product usage, technical input, and business goals into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.
Strong customer-facing or market-facing experience, including work with customers, prospects, partners, commercial teams, or delivery organizations.
The judgment to balance customer commitments, maintenance, defect inflow, technical debt, compliance needs, platform modernization, and strategic investment across a two-product portfolio.
Ability to partner effectively with Engineering and Architecture to define scalable, maintainable, secure communication and messaging capabilities, while making informed product trade-offs.
Strong product-discovery and decision-making skills for complex customer and platform needs, including customer-branded notifications, traveler communications, document delivery, event-driven operational notifications, multi-channel messaging, configurable templates and branding, integrations, and modernization initiatives.
Strong understanding of agile product delivery, including backlog creation, refinement, prioritization, user stories, acceptance criteria, demos, and acceptance of delivered work.
Ability to provide product expertise, day-to-day clarification, and product trade-off decisions to scrum teams throughout delivery.
Ability to align product direction with technology strategy, commercial goals, customer commitments, and delivery plans.
Experience engaging stakeholders through discovery sessions, workshops, roadmap discussions, product reviews, and demos, and supporting Sales, Sales Engineering, Delivery, Commercial, and Customer Care with product positioning, solutioning, and product expertise.
Strong business orientation, with the ability to use data, customer feedback, and business context to make transparent, evidence-based prioritization and investment recommendations.
A self-directed, ownership-oriented approach: able to identify gaps and opportunities, take action without waiting for detailed direction, manage competing priorities, build trust across geographically distributed teams, and create clarity in ambiguous, multi-stakeholder environments.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to present, facilitate decisions, tell a compelling product story, and demonstrate technology to audiences at all levels.
A curious, proactive, and pragmatic mindset, with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively and move complex decisions forward.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Information Systems, Aviation, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
