GENERAL FUNCTION

At LensCrafters, we are passionate about the health and wellbeing of our customers and patients.  We’ve expanded that passion to Surgical Clinics where we can provide even more comprehensive care and services in the neighborhoods we serve.

Pre/Post-Op Tech works within a pre-post area where patients are cared for and monitored as they prepare for surgery and recover from the effects of anesthesia. This role oversees monitoring the patient’s overall condition during the pre-op and delicate post-op anesthesia period, providing care and intervention as needed. Documentation and patient education are also components of this discipline.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures all charts are complete and consents signed
  • Medications given per physician orders
  • Assist in providing a transition for the patient from a sedated state to discharge
  • Supports the monitoring of the patient immediately after the procedure; often focusing on respiratory and cardiovascular systems and maintenance of a patent airway
  • Monitor the patient’s physiological status, mental status, and pain level at a level consistent with the potential effect of the procedure, sedation, and/or anesthesia, if required
  • Monitors for adverse side effects of medication or surgery
  • Care for acute surgical sites and instills medications as required
  • Prepares the patient and family for care in the home
  • Provides comfort measures, emotional support to patients whose condition is stable or predictable
  • Educates patients on post operative care and precaution
  • Assists in room turnover

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant experience in a medical, surgical, or optical environment
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Must have a strong command of the English language for all written correspondence & oral communication
  • Committed team player
  • Dedication to detail and process
  • Proven ability to problem solve

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant medical or surgical certifications/degrees
  • Strong knowledge of basic optics
  • Knowledge of retail operations, processes & policies

Pay Range:   - 33.28
