Summary

The Lead Engineer, Hardware Design works with cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system that they have designed.
The Lead Engineer, Hardware Design (Electrical) develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications.  Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed 
The Lead Engineer, Hardware Design (Mechanical) develops new mechanical systems/modules and maintains existing designs. Research mechanical concepts and create system solutions using 3D modeling and simulation software. Complete calculations and test, validate, and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed.

Detailed Description

  • Onboard DC/DC circuit verification and test
  • Verify power supply functionality
  • Publish and maintain power supply verification status and data
  • Assist to debug and duplicate power system related issues
  • Create test plan and test report
  • Delivery test report after test and report design bugs to design team on time
  • Test equipment and tool purchase forecast for new technology pursuit

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Above 3 years server/storage/network products power test experience
  • Ability to solder with a soldering iron.
  • Excellent skills about using test equipments, such as electrical load, power supply, oscilloscopes, voltage/current probes, Loop analyzer and etc.
  • Familiar with the characteristic of electrical components, such as inductor, MOSFET, capacitors and etc.
  • Understand DC/DC topology and has the testing experience of power supply, power brick or On-board DC/DC is preferable.
  • Working knowledge of power supply topologies and commonly used parts
  • Experience and/or familiarity with communication protocols including I2C, PMBus…etc,.
  • Good at verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
