Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
A trainee must be working through one of the established pathways to reach the RPSGT credential outlined by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS), or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
Experience REQUIRED:
Entry level PC and MS Windows knowledge
Experience PREFERRED:
At least one (1) year of work experience in a health care setting.
Education/training REQUIRED:
High school diploma or college transcript.
Education/training PREFERRED:
Education, training and/or experience that has satisfied the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
Independent action(s) required:
All entry-level trainees must identify themselves to patients as a student or trainee in polysomnographic technology in accordance with Virginia state law.
Assists with the completion all independent actions listed for the Licensed: RPSGT, SDS, or RST (no RRT) under the direct oversight and training of a licensed, RPSGT, SDS, or RST credentialed sleep technologist as training and competency permit.
